A metal profile is placed directly above the burners, which prevents fat from dripping between the flames and igniting. At the same time, it prevents direct heating of the grid only at the burner location, so only one part of the grid does not overheat, but the entire grid is heated evenly. Any fat dripping from the grilled meat runs down the sides of the grill into the drip pan at the bottom of the grill, which extends the life of the burners.
