The wood, originally from Siberia, adjacent areas of China and Mongolia, is resistant to extreme temperature fluctuations down to -50°C. Slow growth and dense annual rings give the wood excellent mechanical resistance and resistance to weather conditions. The wood has a light yellow to reddish color, which over time acquires a silver-gray patina appearance if the wood is not treated with oil paint.
